However, many people have had problems, including myself, with playing the Blu-Ray discs. I had particular trouble playing Discs 2 and 3. But, I found a solution! I wanted to document it here so that everyone can enjoy this epic movie series.
If your disc or discs are not playing, it's most likely your player rather than your disc.
Before you do anything with your disc or player, you should move your five-disc collection into a better holder for discs. Although the large book is great, the rubber holders for the discs are not. When taking them out and putting them back in, parts of the hub get shredded and that is not good if it is still on the disc when you play it. I bought myself empty Blu-Ray cases that hold six discs each. I used them for the "Planet Of The Apes" set and the recent "Star Wars: The Complete Saga" on Blu-Ray.
I have a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray player. So, the instructions to get your discs to play will be specifically for that. If you know your player well, it should be similar.
- Go to the main menu. If your disc is already playing, you can hit the stop button and it will take you back to the main menu.
- Go to "Setup."
- Click on "Network Update" and update the firmware. If your player is not hooked up to the internet there are instructions here on how to make an upgrade disc that will update your firmware through a disc.
- Go to "BD/DVD Viewing Settings."
- Go to "BD Internet Connection."
- Change to "Do Not Allow."
- Go back to the main menu and go to "Video."
- Go to "BD Data."
- Erase all data individually and the "Shared Cache Data."
